Counselling and Family Support
Our family workers bring considerable experience and skill to the counseling offered. Parents, young people and children consult us regarding a range of issues, such as the impact of anxiety, depression, drug use, family conflict or violence on their lives. For more information about our approach to counseling you can read about narrative therapy.
Support is also available regarding referrals to other services, advocacy with government departments and a range of other issues important to families.
What style of counseling does Telopea Family Support use?
We work within a Narrative Therapy approach. This means we aim to work in a way that:
- Sees problems as separate from people and families
- Assists people to consider what really matters to them or what they value
- Helps people to become more familiar with their own skills and knowledges, so they can use these to address the problems they are experiencing
- Reconnects people with supportive networks who will assist them to move towards their hopes.
